1. Do I have to make a reservation if I want to attend a lecture?

No reservation is needed if you want to attend a lecture. All Studium Generale lectures are free and accessible to everybody. Our halls are big, but sometimes the interest is great and the number of seats is limited. The principle is: when it is full, it is full. Coming early is needed to be guaranteed of a seat.

2. Are the lectures open to everyone?

The doors of Utrecht University are open to everyone. Studium Generale is the perfect place to get acquainted with different academic disciplines, new insights of innovative research and interesting speakers. The lectures are open to students, employees and other people who might be interested.

3. Where are the lectures being held?

The lectures are held in the auditorium of the University Domplein 29 in Utrecht, from 8 PM to 9.30 PM on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights. Please click here for a route description to University Hall. The luncheon lectures are held in the Booth Hall of the University Library at De Uithof every Wednesday. 4. Are there parking facilities nearby?

The University Hall is located in the city centre of Utrecht. This makes it difficult to park close by. The nearest car park is Car Park Springweg at Stroweg 83. From the car park, you walk to the Dom tower in less than 5 minutes. Please click here for more information. There is a car park beside the University Library with paid parking. The entrance to the car park is at the back of the building, at Cambridgelaan 108. The main entrance of the University Library is located at Heidelberglaan 3. The auditorium of the University Hall and the Booth Hall in the University Library are both easy to reach by public transport and by bike.

5. How do I apply for a brochure of the programme?

In January and August the spring and autumn brochures are published. You can request a brochure by mail, email or phone to the office: info@sg.uu.nl.

6. How do I stay up-to-date?

7. Do I have to pay an entrance fee if I attend a lecture?

All Studium Generale lectures are accessible to everyone from the age of 18 to 100, free of charge.

8. I am not able to attend a lecture; how can I still see it?

If you are not able to attend a lecture, you can view the lecture live stream on your computer at our website (www.sg.uu.nl). Please take a look at the programme page of the lecture concerned. It’s also possible to view the lecture at any point in time later. Please click here for all recordings.
