Dr. James Garvey

Dr. James Garvey promoveerde in de filosofie aan het University College London en werkt voor The Royal Institute of Philosophy. Dit instituut is een educatieve liefdadigheidsinstelling die filosofie promoot, zowel binnen als buiten de academie. Garvey is ook redacteur van The Philosophers’ Magazine, een kwartaalblad dat toegankelijke en leesbare filosofie biedt. Samen met een collega schrijft hij Think Now, een serie boeken over sociale en politieke filosofie die als doel hebben duidelijkheid te scheppen in wereldwijde conflicten. Hij is ook auteur van The Ethics of Climate Change (Continuum).

James Garvey houdt lezingen, schrijft en redigeert boeken en artikelen over de ethiek van klimaatverandering, de geschiedenis van de filosofie, de filosofie van de geest, filosofie van het publieke debat en andere verwante onderwerpen. Garvey is op dit moment bezig aan een boek over geschiedenis van de filosofie en heeft net een rapport geschreven over duurzaamheid voor de Higher Education Academy.

James Garvey has a PhD in philosophy from University College London, and he works for the Royal Institute of Philosophy, an educational charity supporting philosophy in all its forms, inside and outside the academy. Garvey is also the editor of The Philosophers’ Magazine, a quarterly which publishes readable, accessible philosophy. Along with a colleague, he edits Think Now, a series of books on social and political philosophy, which aims to lend philosophical clarity to debates in the wider world. He is author of The Ethics of Climate Change (Continuum).

James Garvey gives talks and writes and edits books and articles on the ethics of climate change, the history of philosophy, the philosophy of mind, philosophy in the public arena, and other, nearby topics. He is writing a history of philosophy at the moment.
