André Veneman

André Veneman graduated as a Medical Doctor in 1983. From 1983 - 1988 onward he worked with UNHCR as a Medical Coordinator in Emergency and Refugee Situations.

In 1989 Veerman joined Shell International as an adviser in Occupational Health Management and Preventive Health Programs. He joined AkzoNobel in January 1999 as Corporate Health Director; as of October 2003 he was appointed as Director Corporate Social Responsibility / Health Safety and Environment and as of 2008 he is appointed as Corporate Director Sustainability. He is representing AkzoNobel on international organizations such as World Business Council for Sustainable Development, UN Global Compact and World Resources Institute. In the Netherlands he is chairman of the IDH Advisory Board (Initiative Sustainable Trade) and member of the Advisory Board for the Amsterdam Climate Initiative.
