Dr Lily Frank is Assistant Professor of Philosophy and Ethics at the Technical University of Eindhoven.

Frank’s current research lies at the intersection of applied ethics, specifically bioethics and metaethics and moral psychology. She is also working on issues in reproductive ethics, including abortion and the artificial uterus.

From 2020 to 2030, Frank is involved in the research programme The Ethics of Socially Disruptive Technologies. This programme seeks to develop a better understanding of the socially disruptive technologies of the 21st century. What challenge do they pose to our concepts and values in our moral thinking?

Frank is also a senior researcher at the 4TU Center for Ethics and Technology: an organization that aims to stimulate and perform research in the field of ethics and technology.

In 2014, Frank completed her doctorate in Philosophy from The Graduate Center, City University of New York, USA. Her doctoral research focused on naturalistic forms of moral realism, moral motivation, and normativity.

Franks onderzoek ligt op het snijvlak van toegepaste ethiek, in het bijzonder bio-ethiek en meta-ethiek en morele psychologie. Ze houdt zich ook bezig met kwesties op het gebied van reproductieve ethiek, waaronder abortus en de ontwikkeling van kunstmatige baarmoeders.

Frank ook betrokken bij het onderzoeksprogramma The Ethics of Socially Disruptive Technologies. Dit programma streeft naar een beter begrip van de sociaal ontwrichtende technologieën van de 21e eeuw. Welke uitdaging vormen deze nieuwe technologieën voor onze normen en waarden? Daarnaast is Frank senior onderzoeker bij het 4TU Center for Ethics and Technology: deze organisatie doet onderzoek op het gebied van ethiek en technologie.

In 2014 voltooide Frank haar doctoraat in de filosofie van The Graduate Center, City University of New York. Haar promotieonderzoek richtte zich op naturalistische vormen van moreel realisme, morele motivatie en normativiteit.
