The Earth before and after us

The Earth existed for billions of years before humankind came along. What can a long-term view on the Earth’s history teach us about the future? Geologist Dr João Trabucho Alexandre explains.

The several hundred thousand years that humans have walked this planet, are nothing compared to Mother Earth’s billions of birthdays. Keeping this in mind, geologist Dr João Trabucho Alexandre (UU) dares us to take on a humble view. How has non-human history shaped the world as we know it today? Can thinking about ‘deep time’ help us envision a far future?

In collaboration with the faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences, faculty of Science and the faculty of Humanities (UU).
